  • PURPOSE OF CONSULTANCY
    The Consultant will analyze COVID19 or influenza related data, identify new ways to collect data, follow up with data providers, create dataflows to harmonize and standardize data, assist in analysis and create outputs on the data for users.
    BACKGROUND
    The World Health Organization is carrying out surveillance of COVID19 and other respiratory diseases. One of the objectives of this surveillance is to collect, collate and analyze the virological and epidemiological data to be able to give a global overview of the situation. All this data is managed in a data warehouse. While data reporting through the countries is ongoing, there are also publicly available data that we would like to leverage, triangulate and analyze in conjunction with already collected data. Continuous data management and follow up, as well as the regular analysis of the data and adaptation/development of outputs are essential to obtain good information for public health decisions.
    DELIVERABLES
    Output 1: Acquisition of new data (1.2.22-31.12.22)
    Activity 1.1: Identify data sets that are available and would add benefit to the analysis
    Activity 1.2: Make this data available to be analysed in conjunction with other datasets
    Output 2: Visualizations/analysis of the data (1.2.22-31.12.22)
    Activity 2.1: Develop visualization of the data
    Activity 2.2: Develop analysis of the data
    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND LANGUAGES
    Educational Qualifications:
    Essential:
    Minimum First University degree in IT development, health science, statistics, data management or a related discipline that includes quantitative methods.
    Experience
    Essential:
    Up to 5 years of relevant experience in data management, data mining, data visualization and analysis.
    Experience with health data. International experience an asset.
    Skills/Knowledge:
    Essential:
    Computer literacy: word processing; data management and analysis software. Knowledge in R, SQL Server and XML, PowerBI and Shiny
    Languages required:
    Essential: Expert knowledge of English Location Home based – Off-site. Travel No travel Remuneration and budget (travel costs are excluded):
    Remuneration: Band level A – USD 3,955 – 6,980 per month Living expenses (A living expense is payable to on-site consultants who are internationally recruited): N/AExpected duration of contract: 11 months.

The Consultant shall be solely responsible for withholding and paying any taxes, duties, social security contributions and any other contributions which are applicable to the Consultant in in each location/jurisdiction in which the work hereunder is performed, and the Consultant shall not be entitled to any reimbursement thereof by WHO.
