The Association for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (AEPD) is a local NGO based in Quang Binh province, born out of the international humanitarian organization, Survivor Corps/Landmine Survivors Network (SC/LSN). AEPD was established as a local NGO to preserve the legacy of Survivor Corps, which had operated in Vietnam since 2003. Our programs aim to improve the psycho-social and economic well-being of persons with disabilities, including those who have been injured and disabled by landmines or UXOs, or have suffered limb loss from other war-related injuries. AEPD uses a survivor-centric approach based on a peer-support model. This means that we build all our programs and interventions based on the needs of PWDs. While these programs and services are developed by our staff, our interventions are carried out in the field by a team of outreach workers, who are themselves PWDs.
