Project Coordinator

WWF was one of the first International non-government organizations working in Vietnam. In 1985, WWF began working on a national conservation strategy and since then has worked closely with the Vietnamese Government on a diverse range of environment issues and implemented field activities across the country.

WWF-Vietnam is part of WWF-Greater Mekong which operates in 5 countries: Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam. Find out more at http://vietnam.panda.org/.

The USAID Green Annamites Project funded by USAID is supporting interventions in Central Annamites landscapes that are focused on: (1) increasing application of low emissions land use, (2) strengthening biodiversity conservation, and (3) increasing resilience for vulnerable communities. By focusing on these three areas of interventions, Green Annamites will increase application of climate smart development practices in priority forested provinces in Vietnam (primarily Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue). WWF Vietnam supports Green Annamites Project in:

  • Design and deliver institutional development and capacity-building training activities aimed at supporting the implementation of the USAID Green Annamites activities under the sustainable livelihoods, biodiversity conservation and resilience components. These activities shall be designed to reflect and respond to institutional challenges and sensitivities observed during project implementation to date.
  • Prepare training materials on Forestry and Biodiversity.
  • Provide technical assistance to Organizations (e.g. FPD, DARD, DONRE, Protected areas management boards, cooperatives, forest owner associations and other civil society organization). This includes the preparation of leaflets, brochures, guidelines, charts and other materials required for the provision of technical assistance and capacity building.

The Project on Strengthening NSAs’ voices for improved forest governance in the Mekong region (V4MF project) funded by The European Union (EU) with overall objective is that “By 2030, NSAs in the Mekong region (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam) effectively drive national forest landscape governance processes, particularly in FLEGT-VPA and REDD+”. FLEGT-VPA and REDD+ initiatives are a significant opportunity for NSAs to become actively involved in government-led forest landscape dialogues and decision making processes. However, governments in the Mekong region still generally follow top-down approaches to forest management and governance. The Project will therefore leverage and contribute to FLEGT-VPA and REDD+ processes, focusing on the active participation of a network of capacitated NSAs recognized for their contribution in tackling the drivers of deforestation and forest degradation in the Mekong region
