Project Intern (USAID LinkSME Project)

IESC – the International Executive Service Corps – is a U.S.-based nonprofit that seeks private enterprise solutions to problems of poverty in developing countries and around the world. By providing a mix of technical assistance and volunteer expert support, IESC works with emerging industries, financial institutions, and governments to stabilize economic environments, increase opportunity, and promote growth. We have completed over 25,000 projects in more than 130 countries worldwide.

The USAID LinkSME project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), supports the Government of Vietnam (GVN) in its efforts to develop, adopt, and implement policy and regulatory reforms to provide a more favorable business enabling environment for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Further, its Market Linkage team supports private sector development, cooperating with business support organizations (BSOs) and the GVN to improve the performance of SMEs and integrate them into lead-firm supply chains. The project is implemented by the International Executive Service Corps (www.iesc.org), under a contract with USAID and an operating license issued by the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee.

IESC is seeking 01 project intern to support the implementation of technical activities in its Market Linkages Component. Under the supervision of the Market Linkages Team Lead, the project intern will work at the project’s office or flexibly as per the project’s arrangements and with limited travel upon request.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform research on international best practices in support of Market Linkages team activities;
  • Assist team members in producing necessary documentation in support of team activities;
  • Translate various documents related to the work of the Market Linkage Team from Vietnamese to English and vice versa;
  • Provide support to team members during meetings (note taking, ad hoc research, etc.);
  • Support preparation and implementation of events (trainings, conferences, etc.) organized by the Market Linkages Team;
  • Support the Market Linkages Team in preparing logistics for field trips;
  • Monitor progress of external consultants on assignments, following up where necessary;
  • Provide assistance with electronic records.
  • Provide support for following up with lead firms or SMEs on various topics, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fourth-year university students or fresh graduates in Economics, Business Studies, Marketing or related fields;
  • Experiences in an intercultural and multi-lingual context gained by way of internships, academic exchanges, volunteers or extra curriculum activities are preferred (a recommendation from the university/reference check may be required);
  • Experiences in event and training organization are preferred;
  • Fluency in both Vietnamese and English, including reading, listening, writing and speaking skills – IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80 as a minimum is a plus;
  • Computer skills and experience on formatting/editing documents (excel, word, powerpoint, outlook) are essential;
  • Cheerful attitude, detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and take initiatives;
  • Availability to start working and travelling in short advance notice is a plus.
