About the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade  The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas. The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests. About the Position Working under limited direction, the Strategic Communications and Events Manager, is part of the Embassy team that leads Australia’s strategic communications and public diplomacy efforts in Vietnam. The team works closely with the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to develop and implement communications strategies to maximise Australia’s visibility and influence in Vietnam. You will provide mentorship and guidance to other locally engaged staff in the section which includes a senior communications officer and a public diplomacy support officer. Some domestic travel may be required including to support of high-level visits and events.
