SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995, and currently has over 40 national and international staff. SNV Vietnam operates from a head office in Hanoi and projects in over 41 provinces in the country, including in the poorest and most remote areas.

The Shifting Investment Flows Towards Green Transformation (SHIFT), funded by IKI, under the Energy Sector is a joint project of six organisations that aims to support the rapid and broad deployment of green and climate friendly technologies and practices in Viet Nam by enhancing know-how and capacities of relevant stakeholders, especially the private sector, favourable policy frameworks and the availability of financing.

The outcome of the programme is to implement green policy and investment frameworks for enhanced climate action in Vietnam, especially in the energy sector. It addresses both supply and demand aspects of green investment, creating a positive feedback loop that will drive the transition towards a green and climate friendly economy. SNV’s work package involves the establishment and management of a Green Innovation Challenge Fund (GICF) to support the innovative application of Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) technologies in SMEs.

For the GICF work package, SNV’s seeks to strengthen its energy team with a position of Senior Energy Advisor. As a member of a small project team, the Senior Energy Advisor will contribute his or her experience and professional insights throughout the further development and implementation of the project and support the energy team on exploring the new opportunities to expand   SNV’s contribution to Vietnam’s green energy transition.

Job Description

Under the leadership of the Project Manager, the Senior Energy Advisor will provide the following roles and support to entire implementation of the project.
  • Conduct (sub-) sector mapping and assessment for the potential sectors for the GICF;
  • Lead the proposals selection and assessment for the GICF;
  • Identify the GHGs reduction opportunities of the technologies;
  • Provide technical advice for SMEs during the implementation of the pilots;
  • Monitoring the progress of the pilots within GICF, connecting with other Work packages or other organisations if possible and required;
  • Identify and support the scaling of successful pilots;
  • Provide insights and support other business development opportunities in the RE/EE/Energy transition for SNV

Qualifications

  • Master degree in renewable energy, natural resources and environment or engineering
  • An affinity to environmental development, climate change mitigation.
  • At least 07 years of working in RE/EE sector, green transition and RE/EE technologies R&D implementation, especially in SMEs
  • Experience in working in/with SMEs in Vietnam, including coaching the SMEs in RE/EE solutions
  • Good network with
    • Industry/SMEs
    • Education institutions
    • Finance institutions
  • Takes initiative and creative in solving problems.
  • Ability to manage multi-tasking and to work both independently and with a team.
  • Good organisational skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills (English and Vietnamese).
  • Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email).
  • Willing to travel to other provinces.
