Senior Project Manager


ROLE PURPOSE:
Transformation Delivery is responsible for the delivery of projects across Save the Children with a focus on providing Project and Change resources with the oversight of a Portfolio Management team. As Senior Project Manager, you will coordinate multiple work streams of activity within the project you are assigned to, to ensure that the project is planned, resourced and then driven to a successful conclusion and is the main point of contact for any questions on the status of the project. You will be responsible for establishing project management practices utilising SCA’s Project Lifecycle, managing relationships with key stakeholders and driving continuous improvements. This role also requires the holder to work closely with the Global Change and Deployment Manager to coordinate with other major change programmes. The Senior Project Manager may be required to lead one or more of the workstreams in addition to the overall coordination role.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
  • An extensive track record of successfully managing large and complex projects and programmes
  • Demonstrable experience and in-depth knowledge of programme and project practices and standards
  • A proven ability to deliver projects on time / on budget, using project management processes and tools including risk management, benefits management, financial management and quality assurance
  • Proven experience of using and leading change management activities including change impact
  • A proven ability to apply excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and to work collaboratively to deliver of effective solutions to project related issues
  • Highly developed organisational awareness and ability to understand any sensitivities within a complex multi-stakeholder structure; and think creatively and strategically to overcome obstacles to cooperation and progress
  • Strong team leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and mobilise individuals outside their reporting line
  • Strong business requirements collection, and process/workflow analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written & oral English), including the ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Able to demonstrate instances of initiative that have delivered organisational benefits
  • Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally

Desirable:

  • Experience of working on Organisation Design projects
  • Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
  • Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic

We can offer circa £60,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.

This role can be based in London or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
