We are looking for committed, result-driven candidate for the position of Senior Project Officer, The Mitigating Marine Plastic Debris in Viet Nam Project (BMU), based in Con Dao, Viet Nam.

✍️ Major Functions:

The Senior Project Officer is in charge of coordinating and managing the field implementation of activities  under  the  Plastic  MPA  component  that  he/she  is  assigned  to  in  compliance  to  donor’s  and  WWF’s  requirements/ policies, with good quality (as working conditions allows) in a timely manner. The position  will support activities under the Plastic MPAs component with more focus and responsibility on Con Dao island.

✍️ Major Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Together with line managers, develop, update, and manage the operational plan, including cost control and budget compliance
  • Work closely with the project partners in Con Dao (including People’s Committee and its affiliated offices, National Park, schools, businesses, fishing villages, fishermen and local) and other stakeholders for planning, organizing and managing the implementation and M&E of the projects/ program assigned.
  • Provide technical inputs, support to the planning and implementation of the projects/program activities in an objective oriented manner.
  • Attend training courses, workshops as representative for the project managers when required
  • Assist to and co-work with the supervising Project Managers (and others relevant staff) in planning and monitoring (financial and technical), facilitating the implementation in compliance with donor’s and WWF’s requirements/ policies and in line with the planned progress
  • Contribute to the Plastic Smart Cities and MPA strategies, work-plan, program development, and other relevant activities as needed
  • Other tasks assigned by Line Manager, as appropriate

✍️ Requirements:

  • Bachelor  degree  or  preferably  Master  degree  or  higher  degree  in  fields  related  to  Waste  management  or  Waste  treatment  technology,  Natural  resources  management,  Environmental  science, technology or biology
  • Proven experiences in planning and implementation of GO and NGO’s projects. Experiences in  working or liaison with GO and NGO bodies (e.g protected area, national park), and working in  multi-stakeholder settings
  • Good understanding of Con Dao island, and issues related to: conservation, climate adaptation,  water resources management (quantity and quality), environmental protection and communication  for changes

✍️ Profile Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or preferably master’s degree or higher degree in fields related to Waste management or Waste treatment technology, Natural resources management, Environmental science, technology or biology
  • Proven experiences in planning and implementation of GO and NGO’s projects. Experiences in working or liaison with GO and NGO bodies (e.g protected area, national park), and working in multi-stakeholder settings
  • Good understanding of Con Dao Island, and issues related to conservation, climate adaptation, water resources management (quantity and quality), environmental protection andcommunication for changes
  • Knowledge of the policy/institutional context related to aquaculture and conservation and the government agencies, development partners, donor institutions, and NGO in the landscape
  • Experience of working with Government officials, local communities and/or donors at all levels

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage and interact at all levels of an international, multicultural organization, Communication skills on behavior change
  • Networking, coordination, and facilitation skills.
  • English & Vietnamese proficiency, strong technical report writing skills (in English).
  • Organizing & planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Good research, presentation, training skills, report writing skills
