SENIOR RESEARCHER AND PROJECT OFFICER

Vacancy for a senior researcher and Project Officer at Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN)

Established in 2005 as an independent research organization, DEPOCEN has gained its reputation among the development and research community in Vietnam for its high quality work in a wide range of research topics and development areas. Our core business includes three main components: research, consultancy and survey implementation, and training (http://www.depocen.org).

DEPOCEN has conducted numerous research and consultancy projects on a wide range of issues. The researches are including macroeconomic policies, public finance, public policy, corporate innovation and competitiveness, econometric modeling and forecasting, trade liberalization, public service, tobacco economics. The consultancy projects mainly are impact evaluations of intervention programs (applying survey methods) in poverty reduction, household welfare, rural and agricultural development, electrification, technology and innovation, education, water supply and sanitation, public health (tobacco control, HIV/AIDS prevention, etc.), gender equality DEPOCEN is currently seeking applicants for 02 Positions

Type: Full-time

1. The Senior Researcher:

Job description:

• Develop proposals for assigned research and consultancy projects;
• Design the research (develop detailed methodology, study tools, work plan, budget for the researches and consultancy projects);
• Assign tasks to and supervise the research team; monitor the project progress; quality control;
• Conduct fieldwork (in-depth interview, data collection) as part of the research if necessary;
• Analyze data, write reports and other publications (article/journal papers, book chapters, policy briefs, etc.);
• Build the expert network to join DEPOCEN team in research and consultancy projects;
• Other tasks appropriately with expertise requested by higher manager.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Economics and/or other related fields. Candidates holding a Master Degree with outstanding academic records are encouraged to apply (foreign master degrees are preferred)
• At least 5 years of experience in conducting the research and consultancy projects
• Critical thinking, and excellent writing and analytical skills
• Excellent command in English
• Strong capability to work both independently and in team.
• Willingness to travel to provinces (including remote areas) for fieldwork when necessary.

2. The Project Officer:

Job description:

• Develop proposals for consultancy projects;
• Develop methodology, data collection tools, work plan, budget for running the assigned project;
• Conduct fieldwork (training and supervising enumerators; conducting in-depth interviews);
• Analyze data and write the reports;
• Liaise with project stakeholders, including clients, local partners and collaborators (external consultants, interns and enumerators);
• Build the expert network to join DEPOCEN team in research and consultancy projects;
• Other tasks appropriately with expertise requested by higher manager.

Qualifications:

• Master/bachelor degree in Economics, Sociology, Public Health and/or other related fields.
• At least 2 years of experience in conducting the research and consultancy projects
• Critical thinking, and excellent writing and analytical skills
• Excellent command in English
• Strong capability to work both independently and in team.
• Willingness to travel to provinces (including remote areas) for fieldwork.
