The PATH Myanmar Country Program is currently implementing a broad portfolio of activities on a range of health issues including infectious diseases, nutrition, vaccines and immunization systems strengthening, digital health and sexual and reproductive health.  PATH is seeking a Senior Technical Officer - Infectious Diseases to support the day-to-day management and quality implementation of the infectious disease program of PATH- including advancing strategy, translation of evidence, Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS), donor and partner communication. This position reports to the Director - Infectious Diseases in PATH,  Myanmar. 

Responsibilities 

Provide technical support to MOHS and related departments in the areas of infectious  diseases mainly Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDs and emerging infectious diseases like COVID-19.  Communicate, coordinate, negotiate, and manage relationships with national counterparts and key partners in relation to the infectious disease program. Support the Director on expanding the infectious disease portfolio of PATH including advising on country-specific policies, strategies and guidelines on Infectious Diseases  Develop, implement, and manage project work plans, track progress, analyze and Communicate project progress to the Director.  Participate in routine in country, regional and global virtual meetings on infectious diseases, and facilitate decision making on country-specific strategies and activities.  Oversee the preparation of project reports, analyses, and presentations.  Work closely with other programs of PATH including finance and administrative staff to provide regular operational support and oversight as required.  Supervise and mentor staff; support in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes as needed.  Support to implement the activities on infectious disease in the form of trainings, mentoring and development of tools.  Support in strengthening surveillance systems including digital and data innovations in relation to infectious diseases.  Support MOHS and departments in up taking evidence generated from various assessments and research.  Support to facilitate and undertake multi-sectoral approach in disease control and elimination efforts. 

Required skills and experience: 

Bachelor in medicine with advanced degree in public health, infectious diseases, Epidemiology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  10 years’ experience in public health with at least 5 years in Infectious Diseases.  Project leadership skills in managing country project team with demonstrated ability to collaborate and coordinate with MOHS and related departments, in technical areas of work and implementation of activities.  Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and partners.  Comfortable managing in a flexible and changing environment, with ability to adjust plans and direction in response to local feedback and the iterative nature of the project. Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, coordinating, and collaborative skills. Excellent oral and written English communication skills.  Experience working in or with MOHS in disease control program is highly preferred. Ability to travel estimated at 50% of the time (when travel is allowed).  Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation and stakeholder engagement/coordination
