Overall responsibility

The Economic Section of the Consulate General primarily focuses on improving the bilateral economic relations between Vietnam (specifically the South of Vietnam) and The Netherlands. The Senior Trade Officer is responsible for analyzing the business environment, spotting opportunities for Dutch business, maintaining relationships with different organizations and companies and promoting the interest of Dutch business by facilitating market entry, problem solving, as well as communicating about business opportunities in Vietnam. The thematic focus will be on water management and climate change. In this field, the Senior Trade Officer will support aid, trade and Public-Private Partnerships. Furthermore, projects will be assigned to the Senior Trade Officer to be managed and results obtained.

Profile

The Senior Trade Officer is a professional pro-active team player and networker, who is result oriented and can take responsibility. He or she has strong communication and organizational skills, business development skills, is able to translate that into market analyses, and leads for Dutch businesses. The Senior Trade Officer has experience with project management.

Specific duties and responsibilities

Gathering and analyzing market trends and evaluate market research for assigned industry sectors (at least the water sector), handling trade requests from Dutch businesses. Advising Dutch companies on Vietnam laws that affect to trade and investment opportunities Developing and maintaining a strong network with Vietnamese and Dutch business communities and authorities Drafting briefing notes, speeches, analyses, strategy papers and content for external communications, trade missions and other events such as networking and seminars Project management

Qualifications and requirements

Requires:

Master's degree from a recognized university, preferably in water engineering or in business, finance or economics Knowledge of Vietnam's economy, business customs and practices, marketing channels, laws, regulations and policies relating to assigned industry sectors. More than four years of experience in project management Excellent command of Vietnamese and English

Advantage if:

He or she has working experience in the water sector
He or she has affinity with the Netherlands and command of the Dutch language
