Shipping and Customs Supervisor (U.S. Embassy)


The U.S. Embassy Hanoi is seeking to recruit the following position: HANOI-2022-38

  • Salary: USD $20,075
  • Work Schedule: Full-time - Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period
I. DUTIES

The Shipment Supervisor is responsible for the management and supervision of the Shipping and Customs section.  S/he will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in facilitating inbound and outbound shipments and customs clearance of personal and official effects, privately owned vehicles (POV), and other property of U.S. citizen personnel and U.S. Government equipment and supplies.  The position is under the supervision of the General Services Officer (GSO) or Assistant General Services Officer (A-GSO)

II. Qualifications and Evaluations

2.1 Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years’ experience in  the field of international customs, shipping, logistics, or transportation, which includes one year of supervisory experience is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have

  • Detailed knowledge of local government import/export and customs laws, policies and procedures, including tax policies.
  • Detailed knowledge of local motor vehicle policies with respect to registration, transfer, licensing, and taxes.

2.2 Education Requirements:

Completion of two years college studies is required.

LANGUAGE: 

  • Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (This will be tested.)
  • Fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess excellent supervisory and management skills and the ability to deal with people effectively and diplomatically, teamwork, leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office application suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. (This will be tested)
III. Benefits 

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Vietnam may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources (HR) Office. The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office. -------------------------
