Background
The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the empowerment of Women (UN Women), grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women Vietnam is looking for a national research team on gender, international convention and treaty reviews to develop “A report on reviewing and evaluating alignment of the Gender Equality Law with international conventions and treaties; international commitments; basic international labor standards to which Viet Nam participates and proposes amendments to the Gender Equality Law”.

Job Details
- Job Title: A national research team on gender, international convention and treaty reviews (01 team leader and 01 team member)
- Contract Duration: August 2023 – January 2024
- Duty Station: ☒ Remote (Home-based) ☐ Presential (Office-based) Ha Noi, Viet Nam (with mission travel as required)

Responsibilities
📌Team Leader
- Develop a detailed research outline to conduct the report
- Consolidate a list of documents consisting of international conventions, treaties, international commitments; basic international labor standards to which Viet Nam participates. The content of the review must closely follow the field of gender equality and the provisions of the GEL as well as other relevant contents in service of researching and proposing amendments to the GEL. The content selected for review must be agreed between the Legal Department, the Gender Equality Department, UN Women and the expert.
- Collect comments and inputs from key government ministries and the National Assembly on the report
- Participate in a workshop organized by UN Women in collaboration with the MOLISA to present and comment on the results of the research report (in 02 regions, each workshop is expected to be 01 day),...

- Provide inputs to the research outline
- Conduct meetings (online or offline) with key informants from key ministries and the National Assembly to get comments/inputs to the report. (at least 5 key informants)
- Get written comments from representatives of key ministries and the National Assembly on the report.
- Participate in a workshop organized by UN Women in collaboration with the MOLISA to present and comment on the results of the research report (in 02 regions, each workshop is expected to be 01 day).

EducationProfessional Experience
- Master’s degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Human Rights, Development Studies, Gender studies or other related areas.
Language requirement
- At least 10 years of working experience on international frameworks for gender equality and demonstrated expertise on international conventions and commitments and the global agenda on gender equality
- Demonstrated to having good record of facilitating a research team in writing reports, advocacy and information sharing with stakeholders on international mechanisms
- Having experience in engaging with both government and other national stakeholders to strengthen legal frameworks on gender equality. Prior working experience in this area in Viet Nam will be considered as an advantage.
- Evidence of producing high-quality written reports on gender equality and women’s empowermen
- Good command of oral and written English

- At least 8 years of working experience on international frameworks for gender equality and demonstrated expertise on international conventions and commitments and the global agenda on gender equality
- Having strong experience in gender equality and empowerment of women issues in Viet Nam
- Having experience in engaging with both government and other national stakeholders to strengthen legal frameworks on gender equality
- Demonstrated experience in writing reports analyzing and evaluating international mechanisms
- Good command of oral and written English
