OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
To strengthen multisectoral response to prevent avoidable morbidity and mortality from non-communicable diseases. Member States will be supported to operationalize multisectoral response through evidence-based technical support on appropriate governance and accountability structures as well as on developing optimal policy response. The program works with Member States to advocate and to strengthen their capacity to develop policies that may include legislations and regulatory measures, information and education campaigns and health system responses based on primary health care approaches to prevent as well as care for people with existing risk factors and NCDs. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES Under the general guidance from DPM and direct supervision from HPN, to:
Education
Essential: Master's degree in health from recognized university(s); training in the areas of medicine, public health, health system management.
Desirable: A postgraduate or doctoral degree in public health, health system.
Experience
Essential: At least seven years of relevant experience, including considerable experience obtained in an international context, in the field of public health, health policy, health system management.
Desirable: Vast experience in health policy and planning, health system management and health policy and system research, preferably related to NCD and risk factors.
Skills
Broad knowledge of principles, practices, methods and technologies in public health management, especially in areas of his/her responsibility. Ability to have close collaboration with nationals and staff members.
Other Skills (e.g. IT): Proficient in MS Office Software applications, data analysis and technical presentations.

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 73,516 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 2016 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
