Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the – Transformation Delivery Manager in London or at any existing Save the Children office location.
Our Director of Project and Change Management is going on Maternity leave and will hand over her core responsibilities to the Director of Change Deployment. To ensure effective ongoing delivery in the department we require a Transformation Delivery Manager to support the Director of Change Deployment during this period. This will involve accountability for a subset of key responsibilities from both roles under the guidance of the Director of Change Deployment.
This Transformation Delivery Manager will play a key role in ensuring the effective ongoing delivery of the proposed and in-flight transformation projects and initiatives. The role will report to the Director of Change Deployment but will also work closely with the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) for Save the Children International. In this role, they will be accountable for supporting defined projects, providing hands on support to resolve issues, support recruitment processes in partnership with HR, initiate new streams of work, intervene to support stakeholder engagement and step in to provide cover for agreed roles as needed where gaps are in place. In addition, they will act as a key point of contact for Project Leads and their teams to act as a sounding board or to collaborate with them where they need support.
Alongside the interventions work the role will be required to support the closeout and implementation of the strategy process and associated budgets for Transformation Delivery under the guidance of the Chief Transformation Officer. This will involve ensuring the required interventions are defined, planned and understood and can be effectively resourced for implementation. In addition, they will need to work closely with finance, PMO and the CTO to ensure that the budget process is closed out and all required actions are completed.
In addition to the above, a significant proportion of the role will be to support ad-hoc requests required to ensure the effective running of the department. This will be defined by the CTO or the Director of Change Deployment and is influenced by requests from our governance groups and leadership teams. Examples could include (but are not limited to) creating proposals or scoping new requests for work, responding to requests for more information on work delivered to date, initiating and managing new recruitment processes, responding to requests to respond to contracts or invoices, new supplier engagements and associated governance, engaging with legal and other key functions on existing projects, managing challenges with key stakeholders etc.
This will be a critical role to ensure the effective delivery of the team during this period and offers a great opportunity for the role holder to work across a broad set of projects and activities and engage key stakeholders and leaders across the organisation.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

Budget Responsibilities: No direct budget responsibility but will require experience in managing budgets
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Work with the Director of Change Deployment and the CTO to ensure a clear view of priorities and drive delivery of the portfolio
- Work effectively across the portfolio of projects with both the Project Teams, PMO and Transformation Delivery Management Team to provide hands on delivery and support of interventions for agreed projects and initiatives under the guidance of the Director of Change Deployment or the CTO
- Execute/facilitate the required intervention/resolution plan working in partnership with the relevant project, IT and wider business stakeholders
- Step into support the CTO with preparation and delivery of senior level engagement such as the SCA/SCI Board or Management Committee as required
- For new initiatives, take the lead in defining the steps that need to be completed in order to move the work forwards including defining and setting up the required governance, creating the high level feasibility template, identifying and engaging key stakeholders, defining the required recruitment processes and ensuring the high level plan is defined and agreed before progressing the required activities
- For in-flight initiatives, agree priorities with leadership in order to determine what areas of focus will be taken forwards for the coming period
- For agreed initiatives, define and agree required interventions and engage with project leadership and wider teams to ensure these are effectively defined and implemented
- Engage with wider teams to ensure a good understanding of status and identify issues as they arise. Align back with leaders where issues are identified to agree required interventions and associated next steps
- Lead the response of follow up actions related to the strategy process and associated budget process ensuring ongoing visibility and agreement with leaders
- Support ad-hoc requests for work from the CTO and Director of Change Deployment, ensuring any requests are prioritised against wider activities and proposed interventions are defined and agreed before work is initiated and the required review process is defined up front
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to the wider Project and Change team as required, acting as a sounding board for questions and escalating issues as they arise to the relevant leaders in the team
- Engage with wider teams and stakeholders requiring input from the project and change team and ensuring any requests are routed in the right way

In order to be successful you will bring/have:
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Demonstrated experience working with global stakeholders across different levels of the organisation from a broad range of contexts
- Experience effectively managing budgets and being able to adapt to changes where required
- Demonstrated experience leading transformation projects or working as part of a team leading a large and complex transformation
- Experience of working on IT and Business focused projects
- Experience of industry project management standards and holding project management teams accountable to those standards
- Demonstrable experience of acting as a ‘business partner’ to functional areas e.g. Supply Chain, Finance etc.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with high levels of change and quick turnaround times, whilst delivering to the highest standards
- Ability to resolve complex project issues, with a balance of pragmatism and rigour
- Experience setting up new initiatives including initial scoping and business cases
- Experience working with project governance structures
- Experience delivering interventions to support the resolution of issues
- Demonstrable coaching skills to help build the capabilities of others in the area of Project and Change Management
- Commitment to Save the Children values
- Prior experience in challenging geographies that include less developed areas in the Middle East, Africa and Asia
- Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
- Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic
Educated to degree level in a relevant field (e.g., International Development; Politics, International Relations; global health). Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable.
We can offer circa £60,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible of working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.
This role can be based in (Location) or any existing Save the Children office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
