Treasury Assistant


Org. Setting and Reporting

This post is located in the Cashier's Unit, Financial Services (FS) of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund - Pension Administration. The incumbent reports to the Chief, Cashier's Unit.

The Cashier's Unit is responsible for directing and controlling the Fund's treasury activities, managing the cash flow operations of the Secretariat. The Unit also recommends and coordinates the implementation of periodic and non-recurrent payment systems for worldwide application, including the selection of banks, value dates, manual and electronic payment systems. In addition, the Unit is responsible for establishing methods to interface the electronic payment systems into existing Pension Fund infrastructure. Responsibilities

Within limits of delegated authority, Team Assistants will be responsible for the following duties:

•Performs a wide range of office support and administrative functions. •Assist with investigation of non-receipt of payments, delay in receipt of payments, bank fees/charges. •Process payments by preparing data and submitting for daily payments/beneficiaries •Assist with effecting recalls in e-Serve and maintain existing tracking tool; •Assist with cheque inquiries and STOP Payment of same; •Respond to general client inquiries; •Maintains files (both paper and electronic) and databases for work unit. •Perform such other Cashiers duties as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years experience in general office support, accounting, finance, administration or related area is required. Experience working with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; working knowledge of another official UN language would be an asset.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Any candidate from a member organization of the UNJSPF applying for these posts is considered as an internal candidate provided he/she has been appointed through the appointment and promotion procedures applicable in his/her respective organization. • If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment. • While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. • Subject to the funding source of the position, the eligibility for this temporary job opening may be limited to candidates based at the duty station. • This temporary job opening may be limited to “internal candidates,” who have been recruited through a competitive examination administered according to staff rule 4.16 or staff selection process including the review of a central review body established according to staff rule 4.15.
