UNFPA

UNFPA's Mission UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, every young person’s potential is fulfilled, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect. History of UNFPA in Viet Nam UNFPA has been active in Viet Nam since 1977, when it established the first Joint Cooperative Programme with the Government, providing approximately USD 190 million in assistance. UNFPA works to improve people’s access to quality sexual and reproductive health services, supports the collection and use of high-quality population data, facilitates policy dialogue and helped the Government in developing, implementing and monitoring evidence-based policies related to sexual and reproductive health, population and development, and gender equality. At the central level, UNFPA works closely with the National Assembly, the Communist Party and the Ministries of Health; Planning and Investment; Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Culture, Sports and Tourism; Home Affairs; Education and Training; Finance; Foreign Affairs, and others. UNDPA also partners with UN agencies, the donor community, international and local NGOs, social organizations and the media. At the provincial level, UNFPA works with partners such as the People’s Committees and other provincial departments to provide technical and financial support for the implementation of UNFPA programmes, that helps ensure the effectiveness of UNFPA support to improve the quality and use of sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, and helped promote gender equality and women's empowerment, especially in poor and remote areas. UNFPA Goals The overall goals of UNFPA are achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health, promoting reproductive rights, reducing maternal mortality and accelerating progress on the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) agenda. UNFPA also supports achieving the new overarching framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other commitments and frameworks that the Government has ratified including the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). UNFPA focuses on improving the lives of young people and women by advocating for human rights and gender equality and by promoting an understanding of population dynamics. Population dynamics, such as the growth rate and age structure of a population, as well as fertility, mortality and migration trends, have an effect on every aspect of human, social and economic progress. Access to sexual and reproductive health information and services and women's empowerment also powerfully affect and are influenced by population trends. How UNFPA Works In Viet Nam, we partner with the Government at both national and sub-national levels, UN agencies, NGOs, social organizations, private sectors and other development partners to contribute to the national efforts towards a more equitable and sustainable society. UNFPA is also fully committed to the UN ‘Delivering as One’ (DaO) reform process in Viet Nam.   Kênh kiến thức kỹ năng, phát triển bản thân, hướng nghiệp, blog nhân sự
