The Opportunity
Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Vetting Officer at our London Save the Children International office location.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Vetting in Save the Children International (SCI) is a core risk process by which the details of all staff members, partners (and their key staff) and suppliers (and their key staff) are checked to ensure that these individuals and entities do not have any connection with sanctioned or terrorist organisations and have not committed or been implicated in any terrorism or other financial crimes.
It is critical pre-requisite to working with our suppliers and implementing partners, serving SCI country offices and programmes to deliver their mission for children. It is delivered through a small, dedicated, centralised team within the Procurement function, enabled with a sector-leading Procurement/Finance technology solution (SAP Ariba) currently being rolled out in all our countries.
The role holder will:
- carry out daily compliance checks/vetting of all suppliers and partners, which we use nationally and internationally by using the implemented vetting tools and templates
- apply the agreed vetting rules, leveraging their analytical skills in the vetting review process to analyse the potential matches
- collaborate with our countries to request and develop risk assessment on the confirmed positive matches or escalate any concerns to the Manager responsible for vetting, and/or our Legal Counsel as and when necessary.
- communicate the vetting results to the vetting requestors in SCI offices across the organisation
- carry out re-vetting of suppliers and partners, where all previously vetted individuals and organisations are being checked periodically for any newly flagged-up potential matches after they had already been vetted and cleared.
- Maintain up-to-date Supplier and Partner vetting databases and records in order to ensure the uninterrupted use of the vetting tools and the correctness of the data in the vetting reports.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Sound, risk-based judgement
- Strong attention to detail.
- Interest in compliance, legal and risk in an operational setting (supply chain, partnerships)
- Understands the need for confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information and correspondence.
- Maintains a strong analytical approach. Is able to draw fact-based insights from data to identify potential risks to the organisation and to effectively act on them
- Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and to work calmly when under pressure to achieve deadlines.
- Is highly competent in using the Microsoft Office pack, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Strong team player and collaborator. Can evidence ability to liaise and communicate effectively with a broad range of people at all levels, across different cultures and departments, and to act with respect, credibility, discretion, tact and diplomacy.
- Is able to adjust to using different systems quickly and to diagnose and suggests process improvements to optimise their use.
- Is experienced in developing and maintaining efficient data systems.
- Has strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English.
- Is able to work effectively as a part of a team and pro-actively provides support to the other team members as and when needed.
Desirable
- Some knowledge and understanding procurement practices.
- Experience of vetting or any other sanctions and/or money-laundering screening systems
- Experience of working with Power BI reporting tool
We can offer circa £26,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.
This role can be based in any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
