Call for Expressions of Interest and Proposal

VN053 – Short-termed Consultant (STC)/ Agreement for Performance of Work holder (APW holder) – Designer or designing company to develop the design for Vietnamese version of the WHO Laboratory Biosafety Manual 4th Edition suite comprising the Laboratory Biosafety Manual (4th edition) core document and seven subject specific monographs version following the available design of its English version.

1. Background:

The 4th edition of the WHO Laboratory Biosafety Manual (LBM4) was released in January 2021. It is necessary for laboratories in Viet Nam to have access to the manual as well as all the supporting documents in Vietnamese, for best use of the LBM as a reference document for strengthening biosafety systems in Viet Nam. WHO Vietnam office has got the LBM4 translated into Vietnamese.

A designer or designing company are needed to develop the design of the LBM4 core document and the associated seven subject specific monographs – Vietnamese version following the available design of LBM4’s English version. The design work is the purpose of this STC/ APW holder.

2. Work to be performed

To develop the design for Vietnamese version of the WHO Laboratory Biosafety Manual 4th Edition suite comprising the Laboratory Biosafety Manual (4th edition) core document and seven subject specific monographs following the available design of its English version

 The Laboratory Biosafety Manual 4th Edition suite including the Laboratory Biosafety Manual (4th edition) core document as well as the seven subject specific monographs (Risk Assessment Laboratory design and maintenance, Biological safety cabinets and other primary containment devices, Personal protective equipment, Decontamination and waste management, Biosafety programme management, Outbreak preparedness and resilience). The total volume of the English documents is 730 pages.

3. The main methods to carry out this activity will be:

To provide the design of the provided documents in the same format as that of the English version documents.

Start date: 5 November 2021

End date: 20 November 2021

5. Specific requirements

- Previous book design experience.

- Previous working experience with UN/ WHO preferred.

8. Remuneration

The design fee will be based on market rate for design work. Please submit the detailed quotation for the work. The payment will be made upon the submission of the product.
