Wildlife Crime Program Officer


ABOUT ENV Education for Nature - Vietnam (ENV) was established in 2000 as Vietnam’s first non-governmental organization focused on the conservation of nature and protection of the environment. Our mission is to foster greater understanding amongst the Vietnamese public about the need to protect nature and wildlife. We employ creative and innovative strategies to influence public attitudes and mobilize Vietnamese citizens to live in balance with the natural world. We work closely with government partners to strengthen policy and legislation and directly support enforcement efforts in the protection of endangered species of national, regional and global significance.
  Position Description The General Case Officer is responsible for the collection of information regarding wildlife crimes from informants, documenting the crime as a case, identifying the suspect, and then transferring the case to Vietnamese authorities.   Main Responsibilities 1. Reducing Wildlife Crimes ·   Address wildlife violations reported to ENV or resulting from surveys by documenting, tracking, and concluding routine cases successfully 2. Rescuing Lower Priority Live Animals ·   Work with Vietnamese authorities and rescue centers to confiscate live animals and place them in a safe, healthy environment 3. Reducing Consumer Crime ·   Formally communicate with businesses which commit wildlife crimes, in order to convince them to stop committing crimes 4. Law Enforcement Liaison ·   Develop working relationships with representatives from key law enforcement agencies in order to facilitate information sharing and cooperation   5. Responding to the Wildlife Crime Hotline ·   Conduct phone interviews with informants and transfer the information to the WCU supervisor 6. Internet Campaign ·   Assist the Internet Case Officer in clearing ENV internet case backlog 7. Other Duties ·   Complete other duties and assignments as specified by the ENV Management Board and/or the WCU Team Leader   Job Requirements ·   Ability to produce detailed and highly accurate work ·   Excellent Vietnamese spoken communications, particularly in persuasion skills and negotiation skills ·   Multitasking and prioritizing ·   Able to think logically and judge carefully when making decisions about case actions ·   Strong English writing, speaking, and translation skills ·   Excellent written Vietnamese, including professional document writing ·   Patience and perseverance   Salary Grade Dependent on skills and experience   HOW TO APPLY Interested candidate send CV to email: thuthuytran.env@gmail.com Subject: [ENV - 1020] WCU - Full name
