Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (SPIR) is a Christian nonprofit organization providing aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1996, SPIR has been operating in Vietnam and developing strong relationships with partners to conduct projects in 6 sectors livelihood, health, education, protection, relief and WASH.
SPIR Vietnam’s projects are being implemented in Hanoi, Quang Nam, the center province, Tra Vinh, the south province of Vietnam and across the northern provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Lai Chau where the majority of people are from ethnic minority groups, often the most vulnerable or marginalized sections of the population.
We are now seeking highly qualified candidate for the following position:
Position Title: Education Project Assistant
Grade: Entry Level Program
Position Duration: 10 months (March to December 2021)
Duty Station: Hanoi with frequent travel to project locations
Reports To: Education Project Manager
Job Summary:
The Education Program of Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (SPIR) is an on-going program with a key focus on student trainings, mentorship and scholarship support for disadvantaged students including orphans, visually impaired, and ethnic minority students. Currently, Education projects are being implemented in Hanoi.
The Education Project Assistant performs project activities under the guidance and direction of the Education Project Manager. He/She is responsible for supporting and implementing project activities according to the plan, providing logistical support, monitoring activities, and reporting. In addition, s/he will contribute to evaluate project impact and formulating new project ideas. This position’s work schedule may include Saturdays, depending on project activities.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Implementation: Complete project activities under the direction of Project Manager. Ensure project activities are implemented according to defined scope, schedule and quality.

Trainings: Prepares, assist, and conduct life-skills training, character training sessions. Assist with the development of training curriculum/materials.

Student Mentoring: Support and conduct one-on-one mentorships to students on weekly basis in at project sites.

Logistic & Procurement: Prepare logistical arrangements for project activities. Utilizing established office procedures to ensure the project has the necessary products and/or services to complete work in a timely manner.

Monitoring & Evaluation: Monitoring activities conducted by SPIR and partners. Conduct surveys and questionnaire. Collect and compile data for routine reports using existing systems.

Stakeholder, Partner, and Government Relations: Assist the Project Manager and Project Coordinator(s) with meetings, communications, and related documentation. Works to foster strong relationships with partnering authorities.

Financial management: Perform standardize finance procedures to implement activities. Collect valid receipts and prepare expense reports with high level of integrity.

Communication: Ensure proper communication with team members and partners.

Nurture a positive work environment, fostering a commitment to SP values and ethics.

Other Responsibilities: SPIR works as a team to carry out programming and additional responsibilities will be assigned to achieve the goals of our project activities.
Education/Experience Needed:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or related field

Experience working with children/INGO preferred
-
Experience in project execution or formal training preferred

Strong willingness and passion to see help poor and disadvantaged in Vietnam.
Skills Required:

Intermediate English-written and spoken

Fluency in Vietnamese-written and spoken

Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills; high level of integrity.

Flexibility and adaptability

Must be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.

Ability to travel frequently to the project sites in varying weather conditions to carry out project activities.
