Environment and Climate Change (ECC) Senior Technical Advisor


Position Summary: FHI 360 is seeking an Environment and Climate Change (ECC) Senior Technical Advisor to join our Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) team and provide strategic and technical leadership to FHI 360’s Environment and Climate Change Strategic Initiative. This will include:
  • identifying and securing traditional and non-traditional financial resources,
  • developing and supporting the implementation of technical strategies, programs and/or tools,
  • building staff capacity and providing guidance to ensure that program design and implementation adheres to appropriate technical standards and guidelines.
In addition, the ECC Senior Technical Advisor will be expected to:
  • stay current on traditional and non-traditional funding streams and evolving technical standards, guidelines, and program developments in this area of expertise,
  • be responsible for sharing best practices and contributing to the knowledge base through participation in scientific forums and technical networks and,
  • coordinate closely with FHI 360’s other operating units, including disaster preparedness and response, economic growth, global health, nutrition, gender and digital solutions.
This position will be based in the Asia Pacific region and will report to the Environment and Climate Change Director. Responsibilities: Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical leadership in one or more ECC technical areas, such as: climate preparedness and mitigation, resilience, air or plastic pollution, waste management, one health, blue economy
  • Contribute to the growth of FHI 360’s Asia Pacific ECC practice area including: securing funding for program implementation, conducting research, and generating thought leadership.
  • Lead the design, implementation and quality assurance of ECC activities.
  • Collaborate closely with and facilitate technical exchanges with FHI 360 staff, partners and collaborators.
  • Develop tools for the design and implementation of specific technical components; ensure project implementation adheres to the appropriate global strategy and remains technically sound.
  • Review, analyze and evaluate programs/projects effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Represent FHI 360 at professional meetings and conferences, organize scientific events and grow FHI 360’s reputation as a thought leader in the ECC arena.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree or its International Equivalent in an Environment, Climate, or related field. Doctorate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of scientific leadership in one or more of the following: air or plastic pollution, climate change, one health, green jobs (or relevant topic areas).
  • Track record of producing technical products, such as journal articles, job aids, training curricula or other tools.
  • Demonstrated experience designing strategic projects that are national/international in scope.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently required.
