FHI 360 is an international nonprofit working to improve the health and well-being of people in the United States and around the world.
We partner with governments, the private sector and civil society to bring about positive social change and to provide lifesaving health care, quality education and opportunities for meaningful economic participation. We do this by using research and evidence to design and deliver innovative programs that change behaviors, increase access to services and improve lives.
Our staff of more than 4,000 professionals work in more than 60 countries. Their diverse technical expertise and deep understanding of local conditions provide a 360-degree perspective that allows us to develop customized responses to the toughest human development challenges.
In Vietnam, FHI 360 collaborates with local partners to respond to the country’s evolving health and development priorities, including HIV, dengue fever, tuberculosis, avian influenza, malaria, reproductive health, nutrition, substance use and tobacco control. Our in-country professionals strive to be change agents at multiple levels, from building local capacity to scaling up evidence-based interventions, while supporting local, sustainable ownership and strengthening systems for results that last.
FHI 360 collaborates with the Government of Vietnam, the U.S.President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), over 30 local agencies, and other stakeholders to implement the Sustainable Management of the HIV/AIDS Response and Transition to Technical Assistance Project (SMART TA), a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded project. The objectives of SMART TA are to deliver quality HIV services within the continuum of HIV prevention and care, strengthen in-country technical capacity to sustain these services, and ultimately transition them to the Government of Vietnam and other stakeholders.
With funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), FHI 360 is working in Vietnam with government agencies such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs, national and regional public health institutes, universities and hospitals to strengthen capacity and systems in HIV prevention and care, addiction counseling and treatment, training, laboratory systems and research. As part of the Laboratory Quality Assurance Project, FHI 360’s laboratory sciences team is developing a quality assurance/quality control system for hospital laboratories in the country. We are also providing technical assistance to several laboratories, helping them achieve ISO 15189 certification.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the National Institute of Nutrition and the Vietnam Women’s Union, and in partnership with Save the Children, FHI 360 is implementing a model to provide high-quality nutrition counseling services in 15 provinces. This model is part of a broader initiative to improve infant and young child nutrition in Vietnam.
